Mark F. Holmstead, CPA, CVAAs Mark grew up he knew he wanted a career in business and found that in accounting he could really help people. This is at the root of who he is and he has gained great satisfaction in achieving positive results for his clients.
To do this Mark graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting in 1976 and earned the necessary experience to become a certified public accountant.
He started his accounting career at Riddle, Roth, Evans and Condie, a CPA firm in Twin Falls, Idaho, where he became a partner in 1981. In 1988, Mark started an independent accounting firm to better serve his client's needs. Several years later Mark partnered with Brent Hyatt to establish the Holmstead & Hyatt, CPA firm.
Managing his own accounting firm has given Mark exposure to tax preparation and business consulting for a wide variety of clients including partnerships, corporations, and limited liability companies. He also gained experience with farming, ranching, medical firms, commodity warehouses, and many other small businesses in helping them to navigate the complexities of the tax law.
As part of this experience Mark has proven to be an effective representative for clients to bring about positive resolution in matters with the Internal Revenue Service and the Idaho State Tax Commission.
Mark has set himself apart in his understanding within the trust and estate arena. He keeps current and continues to perform estate planning along with the detailed preparation of estate and trust tax returns. He has received his Certified Valuation Analyst designation. This has allowed him to be involved in litigation support for divorces, business disputes, and business valuation. Mark has been appointed receiver and agent by the courts to facilitate litigation matters.
In October of 2011, Mark formed Holmstead Howe, PLLC with Shawna Howe in an effort to better service their customers. They have been able to leverage their energy and skills to provide a haven for small business serving a wide variety of clients in farming, ranching, medical providers and main street professionals.
Mark has been a member of the TwinFalls Lions Club since 1978 and served as President in 1988. Mark has been very involved in the Snake River Council Boy Scouts of America and the orchestration of the Twin Falls County Johnny Horizon cleanup activities for over 20 years. When Mark is not in the office he can often be found on a riverbank tempting fish, terrifying ducks, or trekking in the saddle high on a mountain.
